Reconnaissance Energy Africa Begins Kavango West Testing and Advances Gabon Seismic Program

ReconAfrica Initiates Production Testing in Namibia and Expands Offshore Exploration in Gabon

Reconnaissance Energy Africa Ltd has commenced production testing at its Kavango West 1X discovery well in Namibia while advancing seismic activities and appraisal planning on the offshore Ngulu block in Gabon as part of its 2026 work program.

The company confirmed that it has received all necessary regulatory approvals to begin testing at Kavango West, with field teams already on site preparing the well for operations.

ReconAfrica has delivered a production liner from North America and engaged Halliburton and Schlumberger Oilfield Services to provide equipment and technical support for the testing campaign.

Enhanced Hydrocarbon Pay Confirmed

Recent petrophysical analysis using additional rock samples and well log data indicates 75 metres of net hydrocarbon pay in the Huttenberg formation, up from the previously reported 64 metres.

The testing program will cover six zones in total, including three within the Huttenberg formation and three in the deeper Elandshoek formation.

Approximately 345 metres of prospective intervals will be isolated and perforated as part of the operations.

Offshore Gabon: Seismic Reprocessing and Appraisal Planning

In Gabon, ReconAfrica is reprocessing 3D seismic data across priority areas of the offshore Ngulu block, including the Loba oil discovery.

Once this work is complete, the company plans to select an appraisal drilling location and commission an independent resource assessment, expected by the end of 2026.

The Ngulu block spans roughly 1,214 square kilometres in shallow offshore waters of central Gabon and is situated near several producing oil fields.

The company noted that the block contains the Loba discovery along with more than 28 identified exploration prospects, covering both pre-salt and post-salt plays.
