Angola Oil Exports Reach 357 Million Barrels in 2025 as China, India and Indonesia Lead Demand

Angola exported 93.94 million barrels of crude oil in the fourth quarter of 2025, bringing total annual exports to 357.10 million barrels, according to the Ministry of Mineral Resources, Petroleum and Gas.

The exports generated approximately $24 billion in revenue for the year.

The figures were presented by Secretary of State for Oil and Gas José Barroso during a sector briefing reviewing fourth-quarter performance and outlining prospects for the first quarter of 2026.

Prices Decline Amid Global Market Pressures

In 2025, Angolan crude traded at an average price of $68.40 per barrel, representing a 14.19 percent decline compared to 2024.

According to Barroso, international price weakness was driven by several factors, including easing geopolitical tensions in parts of the Middle East, expectations of a potential resolution to the Russia-Ukraine conflict, rising global crude inventories, slower economic growth in China, softer demand across Asia, increased floating storage in the region, higher U.S. production levels and broader concerns about market oversupply.

Quarterly Performance and Key Export Markets

Fourth-quarter export volumes rose 2.8 percent compared to the third quarter of 2025 but declined 5.5 percent year-on-year relative to the same period in 2024.

China remained Angola’s largest crude oil buyer in 2025, accounting for 58.57 percent of total exports. India followed with 11 percent, while Indonesia represented 8.28 percent of shipments.

Together, the three markets absorbed more than three-quarters of Angola’s exported crude.

LNG Exports to Europe

In addition to crude oil, Angola continued to expand its liquefied natural gas (LNG) exports. In 2025, the country exported 5.8 million metric tons of LNG, generating approximately $3.2 billion in revenue. Europe was the primary destination for Angolan LNG cargoes.

The ministry indicated that monitoring global price dynamics and maintaining export stability remain central priorities as Angola navigates a volatile energy market environment in 2026.
