Production Starts at 2,000 bpd Libyan Oil Well

Nafusah Oil Operations – a joint operation company formed by the Libya’s National Oil Corporation (NOC); Medco International Ventures Limited and the Libyan Investment Authority – has started production at the A-4 well in Libya.

The well will produce up to 2,000 barrels per day (bpd) of crude oil, with pumping operations commencing for six months. Pumped oil will be transported to the Zawiya port in Western Libya via the Tahara field.

According to the NOC, “The technical teams of the Nafusa Oil Operations Company were able to make a valuable achievement that reflects the efforts of oil sector employees to raise production rates, as production began from well A-4 at a rate ranging from 1,500 to 2,000 bpd.”

During the next six months, technical information will be collected in addition to the monitoring of pressure rates and crude oil purity.

The team will also progress with the installation of well complexes as well as the extension of the sub-assembly and main shipping line – to be linked with the El Feel-Mellitah oil line.

The start of production falls in line with national efforts to increase oil output to over two million bpd in the next three to five years.
