Waha Oil Brings New Gas Wells Online to Support Libya’s Power Supply

Waha Oil Boosts Libya’s Electricity Supply with Two New Gas Wells

Waha Oil Company has brought two new gas wells into production as part of efforts to strengthen Libya’s electricity supply and reduce recurring fuel shortages at power plants.

The company connected the new wells to existing surface facilities, enabling gas to be delivered quickly into the national grid.

Most of the additional volumes will be directed to power generation, helping to address chronic fuel constraints that have frequently disrupted electricity production across the country.

The increase in gas availability is expected to improve grid stability, particularly during periods of peak demand.

Natural gas remains central to Libya’s power mix, offering a more efficient and environmentally cleaner alternative to liquid fuels.

Waha Oil said its technical teams worked closely with national partners to complete the project despite operational and logistical challenges.

The company attributed the achievement to the expertise of its workforce and its continued focus on restoring and optimizing field operations.

The new wells form part of Waha Oil’s broader strategy to raise gas output, reduce flaring, and support critical national infrastructure.

In recent years, the company has prioritized projects with rapid impact on the domestic market, especially the electricity sector, which is vital to everyday life and economic activity.

Waha Oil plans to continue investing in field development, maintenance, and production optimization to sustain output and unlock additional gas resources.

These initiatives align with Libya’s objective of building a more reliable energy system and supporting economic recovery, with Waha Oil maintaining a central role in the country’s power supply and energy development.
