Angola’s New Soyo Gas Treatment Center Set to Begin Operations with First LNG Shipment by November 2025
The Gas Treatment Center under construction in Soyo, Zaire province, is scheduled to receive its first shipment of natural gas from Angola LNG in November, according to the National Agency for Petroleum, Gas and Biofuels (ANPG).
ANPG stated that construction has been advancing “at full steam” since it began in October 2023. A recent inspection led by block managers Américo Fernandes and Maria Fernando confirmed significant progress on-site, including the opening of a tunnel connecting land to sea for the gas pipeline and ongoing dismantling of construction materials.
The facility, developed under the New Gas Consortium (NGC) — comprising TotalEnergies, Azule Energy, Chevron, and Sonangol, under ANPG’s oversight — will boost Angola’s gas production, processing, and transportation capacity to the Angola LNG plant.
When completed, the center will have a processing capacity of 412 million standard cubic feet per day (mmscfd).
According to ANPG, this milestone positions the plant to begin receiving gas in the fourth quarter of 2025, significantly expanding Angola’s natural gas infrastructure and reinforcing the country’s role in regional energy security.
