Kosmos Energy Increases Jubilee Output After Successful Ghana Well Start-Up

Kosmos Energy Boosts Ghana Oil Production as New Jubilee Well Comes Online

Kosmos Energy has increased production at Ghana’s offshore Jubilee oil field after bringing the J76 well online as part of its 2026 drilling campaign.

The new well, the third completed in this year’s programme, began production in mid-June and is currently delivering around 20,000 barrels of oil per day on a gross basis.

Kosmos said the well was developed using updated seismic data and advanced reservoir modelling to improve targeting and recovery.

Jubilee production averaged approximately 72,000 barrels per day during the second quarter, rising above 85,000 barrels per day by the end of the period.

Kosmos has also completed drilling of the J77 well, which is expected to start production soon and could increase Jubilee output to around 90,000 barrels per day.

The company’s final 2026 producer, J50, is expected to come online later in the year, while a new water injector will support future drilling plans in the field’s northeastern area.

Beyond Ghana, Kosmos reported continued activity across its portfolio, including LNG cargo deliveries from the Greater Tortue Ahmeyim project offshore Mauritania and Senegal, where nine LNG cargoes were lifted during the second quarter.

The company also completed the sale of its Ceiba and Okume assets in Equatorial Guinea to Panoro Energy as part of its portfolio optimisation strategy.

Kosmos said its financial position continued to improve, reducing net debt to approximately $2.56 billion by the end of the second quarter, more than $400 million below the level recorded at the end of 2025.

The company remains focused on further debt reduction and expects to refinance and extend its reserve-based lending facility.

Kosmos Energy Chairman and CEO Andrew G. Inglis said the strong performance of the 2026 Ghana drilling programme demonstrates the continued potential of the Jubilee field, supported by improved seismic data, reservoir modelling and targeted development.

The company remains focused on increasing production, reducing costs and strengthening its balance sheet as it advances its global upstream portfolio.
