Angola’s Oil Revenue Surges to $8.91 Billion as Crude Exports Gain Momentum

Angola Oil Revenue Jumps 54.7% to $8.91 Billion in Second Quarter

Angola generated $8.91 billion from crude oil exports in the second quarter of 2026, marking a sharp increase in petroleum revenues and highlighting the continued importance of oil to the country’s export earnings.

The country exported 88.12 million barrels of crude during the quarter, according to Secretary of State for Mineral Resources Jaime Victor. Oil export revenue increased by 54.71% compared with the same period in 2025.

The strong performance reflects a significant improvement from the second quarter of 2025, when Angola exported approximately 82.92 million barrels valued at around $5.6 billion.

The latest figures underline the impact of stronger oil prices on Angola’s export earnings, with crude remaining a critical source of foreign exchange and government revenue.

China continued to play a major role in Angola’s crude market, accounting for more than half of the country’s oil exports during the period.

This reinforces the importance of Asian markets to Angola’s upstream industry and the wider petroleum value chain.

The increase in export earnings also comes as Angola continues efforts to stabilise and eventually reverse the decline in oil production.

The government has been pursuing measures to attract investment into mature fields, accelerate new developments and improve the operating environment for international oil companies.

Higher oil revenues provide additional financial support for these efforts, but sustaining growth will ultimately depend on investment in exploration, new projects and production capacity.

Angola’s second-quarter performance therefore offers a positive signal for the petroleum sector.

However, maintaining stronger export earnings over the longer term will require the country to translate improved market conditions into sustained production growth and continued upstream investment.
