Afentra Accelerates Angola Growth Plans with Block 3/05 Drilling and Increased Offshore Stakes
Aim-listed Afentra is accelerating its growth strategy in Angola, advancing drilling activities, expanding its offshore portfolio and progressing exploration across key assets following a strategic review that reaffirmed its commitment to remain an independent exploration and production company.
At the company’s flagship Block 3/05 asset, the 2026 infill drilling campaign is under way, with drilling of the Pacassa SW well in progress.
Reservoir drilling is expected to begin in the coming weeks, with initial results anticipated by late July, ahead of the planned Impala-2 development well.
The two-well programme, funded by Sonangol, is expected to unlock a potential gross production increase of about 9 000 barrels a day and more than 100 million barrels of recoverable resources.
Afentra is also continuing redevelopment work across Blocks 3/05 and 3/05A through increased water injection, infrastructure upgrades and well intervention programmes.
The company aims to raise water injection rates to about 100 000 barrels a day during the second half of 2026 to support production.
In addition, Afentra expects to complete the acquisition of additional interests in Blocks 3/05 and 3/05A from Etu Energias during the third quarter, subject to government approval. The deal will increase its working interests in the two offshore blocks by 3.33% and 3.66%, respectively.
Beyond its producing assets, operational planning is progressing at Block 3/24 ahead of wellhead inspections, while onshore exploration has advanced in the Kwanza Basin following the award of the KON 4 licence.
Technical studies are also under way at the KON 15 licence ahead of a planned 2D seismic survey in the second half of 2026.
