The governor of Lunda Norte, Filomena Miza, has inaugurated the new Recovery and Processing Plant (CRP) of the Chitotolo Mining Company in a ceremony attended by the Minister of Mineral Resources, Petroleum and Gas, Diamantino Pedro Azevedo.
The new facility is expected to significantly increase diamond production capacity while creating additional employment opportunities in the province, supporting both local livelihoods and broader national development goals.
Boost to production and local development
Governor Miza said the commissioning of the plant represents an important step in strengthening the mining sector in Lunda Norte.
She noted that it will help improve economic activity in the region while contributing to social development and improved living conditions for local communities.
She also reaffirmed the provincial government’s commitment to addressing key local challenges through closer cooperation between the public and private sectors.
Call for stronger social responsibility
The governor urged mining companies operating in the province to strengthen their social responsibility initiatives, encouraging continued investment in community-focused projects that directly benefit residents in mining areas.
Investment and capacity expansion
According to Chitotolo Mining Company Chairman Artur Gonçalves, the project required an investment of approximately $9 million.
The new plant increases ore processing capacity by about 140%, marking a major upgrade in operational efficiency.
