Libya’s National Oil Corporation Discovers Six New Wells Adding 168 Million Barrels of Oil Reserves
The National Oil Corporation (NOC) of Libya has announced the discovery of six new oil wells in 2025, with an estimated recoverable oil reserve of 168.1 million barrels and gas reserves of 52.019 billion cubic feet.
According to NOC data, three of the wells have successfully passed testing, one is still under evaluation, and two have been temporarily suspended.
The discoveries were made by several companies:
Arabian Gulf Oil Company (AGOCO) identified three wells
Sirte Oil and Gas Production and Manufacturing Company, Algeria’s Sonatrach, and Austria’s OMV each discovered one well
The NOC stated that the six wells are expected to significantly boost production in 2026, contributing thousands of barrels of crude oil per day.
These additions will also expand Libya’s oil and gas reserves, helping to stabilize production volumes and strengthen the country’s energy sector.
“These discoveries represent a major step forward in enhancing Libya’s hydrocarbon production capacity and ensuring sustainable growth for the national economy,” the NOC said.
