Rio Tinto Unveils Final Beyond Rare Diamond Tender

Rio Tinto Launches ‘Into the Light’ Tender Featuring Last Pink, Red, Violet, Yellow and White Diamonds

Rio Tinto has announced the launch of its final Beyond Rare tender, offering an exclusive selection of pink, red, violet, yellow, and white diamonds sourced from its Canadian and Australian operations.

The tender, titled “Into the Light,” features 52 lots weighing a total of 45.44 carats. This edition marks the conclusion of the company’s celebrated Art Series, following the closure of the iconic Argyle mine in Western Australia in 2020 and the scheduled end of production at the Diavik mine in Canada in 2026.

At the heart of the tender are six Masterpieces—curated sets representing the pinnacle of Rio Tinto’s diamond production. The collection also includes 39 individual stones and seven additional curated sets. Highlights include:

One GIA-certified Fancy Red diamond

12 Fancy Violet diamonds

76 Fancy Pink and Purple-Pink diamonds

A 6.12-carat Fancy Vivid Yellow diamond

Two D-colour, Flawless White diamonds weighing 5.11 carats and 3.02 carats, both cut from the same rough stone

“It is hard to overstate the importance of this final collection from two extraordinarily beautiful places on earth – the East Kimberley region of Western Australia and the Northwest Territories of Canada,” said Patrick Coppens, General Manager of Sales and Marketing at Rio Tinto Diamonds.

“No other mining company in the world has custody of such an exquisite collection of diamond colours, shapes and sizes, and we pay tribute to the men and women who have worked tirelessly to bring them to market.”

Renowned for their rarity and provenance, these diamonds are expected to attract strong interest from jewellers, collectors, and connoisseurs worldwide.

The tender will be showcased in Hong Kong, Australia, and Antwerp, with bidding set to close on October 20.
