Banco Sol has expressed interest in financing and supporting sustainable projects led by local entrepreneurs along the Lobito Corridor, the bank’s Executive Committee Chairman, Osvaldo de Lemos Macaia, confirmed on Wednesday in Benguela.
Speaking to Jornal de Angola, Macaia emphasized the region’s economic potential and the government’s active efforts to attract investors to the Lobito Corridor.
“For initiatives along the Lobito Corridor, Banco Sol will evaluate the projects and companies to assess how local entrepreneurs are positioning themselves. The bank will explore ways to support them, guided by a risk analysis that is viable,” Macaia assured.
Following a meeting with the provincial governor of Benguela, Macaia noted that Banco Sol’s participation aimed to understand the government’s strategy for prioritizing economic projects.
This would enable the bank to provide financing and support ongoing initiatives.
“We are open to evaluating how Banco Sol can position itself to ensure support, provided there is growth potential.
Benguela is a strong economic region, particularly due to the Lobito Corridor and other sectors,” he stated.
Macaia also revealed that prior to the visit to Benguela, Banco Sol’s Executive Committee had visited Huambo Province with a similar objective.
Upon returning to Luanda, the bank plans to review its next provincial visits to identify further business opportunities.
