Seplat Starts Gas Production at 300 MMscfd ANOH Project in Nigeria

Seplat Brings ANOH Gas Project Onstream, Strengthening Nigeria’s Domestic Gas Supply

Seplat Energy, Nigeria’s leading independent energy company, has confirmed the start of gas production at its ANOH gas project, a 300 million standard cubic feet per day (MMscfd) facility that is expected to play a key role in boosting domestic gas supply and reducing routine flaring in the Niger Delta.

Following completion of the 11-kilometer Indorama gas export pipeline and receipt of regulatory approval from the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC), the ANOH Gas Processing Company (AGPC) began supplying gas to Indorama Petrochemical Company on Friday, 16 January 2026.

Gas deliveries are governed by both firm and interruptible gas sales agreements. To support initial supply, four upstream wells that had been shut in since November 2025 were brought back into production.

Since start-up, wet gas production has continued to stabilize. The ANOH plant is currently delivering between 40 and 52 MMscfd of processed gas directly to the Indorama petrochemical complex. Condensate output stands at approximately 2,000 to 2,500 barrels per day and is expected to increase as gas throughput ramps up toward nameplate capacity.

Seplat is also preparing to commence gas sales to Nigeria LNG under an interruptible offtake agreement. This arrangement is expected to support a gradual increase in plant utilization toward the facility’s full 300 MMscfd design capacity.

Meanwhile, construction of the OB3 export pipeline by the Nigerian Gas Infrastructure Company (NGIC) has resumed, with a revised completion schedule to be announced in due course.

AGPC, a joint venture between Seplat Energy and NGIC, developed the ANOH gas processing plant. The facility comprises two processing trains of 150 MMscfd each, LPG recovery units, condensate stabilization units, a 16-megawatt power plant, and associated infrastructure. Notably, the plant is designed to operate without routine gas flaring.

Located within the unitized OML 53 and OML 21 fields, the ANOH project unlocks access to an estimated 4.6 trillion cubic feet of gas with associated condensate.

As of end-2024, Seplat’s share of proven and probable reserves in the unitized field stood at 0.8 Tcf. Seplat generates revenue from wet gas supplied from OML 53 as well as dividends linked to its 50 percent equity interest in AGPC.

LPG production from ANOH, together with output from Seplat’s Sapele gas plant and the Bonny River Terminal, positions the company as a major domestic supplier of clean cooking fuel in Nigeria.

The ANOH facility will also process gas previously flared from the Ohaji field, supporting Seplat’s onshore strategy to eliminate routine flaring and advance its sustainability objectives.

The project was delivered with a strong safety record, recording zero lost time injuries over 17.5 million man-hours worked during development.

Commenting on the milestone, Seplat Chief Executive Officer Roger Brown described ANOH as the first of seven priority gas projects identified by the Nigerian government to commence operations.

He said the project holds strategic importance for Seplat, NGIC, and Nigeria, particularly given the limited gas infrastructure in the onshore Niger Delta.

Brown added that ANOH is Seplat’s third major onshore gas facility and increases joint venture gas processing capacity to more than 850 MMscfd.

He further noted that the project is expected to generate substantial revenue, reduce Seplat’s carbon intensity, and support the company’s long-term objective of reaching 200,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day by 2030.

According to Brown, ANOH will improve access to electricity and clean cooking fuel while contributing to broader economic growth in Nigeria.
