Angola Launches $69 Million Lueji A’nkonde University Campus to Educate Over 8,000 Students
On August 14, Angola celebrated the inauguration of the Lueji A’nkonde University Campus in Lunda-Norte Province, a major investment exceeding $69 million by ENDIAMA.
The ceremony was presided over by President João Lourenço, marking a significant milestone in Angola’s commitment to higher education and regional development.
The new campus houses two faculties—Law and Economics—with a total of 87 classrooms: 47 for Economics and 40 for Law.
Each of the three daily shifts can accommodate 2,906 students, bringing the total capacity to over 8,000 students.
Notable facilities include:
A modern auditorium with 320 seats
Three simulated courtrooms in the Faculty of Law
Ten practical workrooms in the Faculty of Economics
An infirmary in the Faculty of Law
Two computer labs
A library with seating for 30 students
A cafeteria accommodating 300 people
Two sports courts
Internal parking for 400 vehicles (including 18 spaces for persons with reduced mobility)
External parking for 33 vehicles
Workforce and Construction
The campus construction employed 715 workers, including 458 local workers, 247 non-local national workers, and 10 expatriates, reflecting a strong commitment to local employment and skills development.
Strategic Importance
Minister of Mineral Resources, Petroleum and Gas, Diamantino Azevedo, highlighted that the campus represents the government’s strategic vision of education as a driver of sustainable development and social transformation.
Ganga Júnior, Chairman of ENDIAMA’s Board of Directors, added that the project demonstrates ENDIAMA’s goal to transform lives for the benefit of all Angolans through education and infrastructure investment.
