Independent oil company Perenco has committed $200 million to the construction of a new offshore gas platform, Kombi 2, located within the Kombi-Likalala-Libondo II (KLL II) permit area.
Currently under construction at the Nieuwdorp shipyard in the Netherlands by engineering services firm Dixstone, the Kombi 2 platform is expected to produce approximately 7 million cubic feet of natural gas per day.
The platform is scheduled to depart for Congo in October 2025 and is projected to begin operations offshore Pointe-Noire in early 2026.
This initiative is part of Perenco’s broader strategic investment in the Republic of Congo, following the 20-year renewal of the Ikalou II and Likouala II permits.
The company plans to invest close to $900 million in the country over the coming years, focusing on well workovers, development drilling, and infrastructure modernization.
These efforts are aligned with Congo’s national goal of increasing production to 500,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day by 2030.
“Kombi 2 is fully in line with our commitment to performance, operational safety, and environmental responsibility,” said Stephane Barc, Managing Director of Perenco Congo.
