Cassava Technologies and Microsoft Launch Renewable Energy Training in South Africa

Pan-African technology company Cassava Technologies has partnered with Microsoft to launch a renewable energy training initiative in South Africa, aimed at equipping local communities with the skills needed to advance renewable energy solutions and support the country’s energy transition.

As part of the initiative, training hubs will be established in Cape Town and Johannesburg, offering programs focused on renewable energy development, energy efficiency, and microgrids.

The initiative will prioritize women and youth, helping them develop critical skills for the growing sector.

Finhai Munzara, Chief Corporate Development Officer at Cassava Technologies, emphasized the project’s importance, stating:
“This initiative ensures that all Africans are part of the transition to a digitally connected future powered by sustainable energy.

By combining our technological expertise, local experience, and Microsoft’s global reach, we aim to make a lasting, positive impact on South African communities.”

The collaboration has the potential to expand into other African markets, with Cassava Technologies leveraging its renewable energy subsidiary and strong presence in South Africa to drive community empowerment.

Markus Swart, Director of Data Centre Operations at Microsoft South Africa, highlighted the partnership’s broader impact, stating:
“We are pleased to collaborate with Cassava to support climate initiatives that uplift local communities and equip them with the tools to thrive.”
