Angola’s energy sector continues to demonstrate resilience and potential, as highlighted by recent reports from the Ministry of Mineral Resources, Oil and Gas (MIREMPET).
In the first quarter of 2024, the country exported a significant volume of Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG), Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG), and condensates, totaling 966,394 metric tons, generating revenue of $393.6 million.
While these figures represent a slight decrease compared to the previous quarter, they underscore the ongoing strength of Angola’s energy industry.
LNG exports, primarily destined for India, Italy, Thailand, the Netherlands, and the United Kingdom, remain a cornerstone of the nation’s energy exports.
Similarly, exports of LPG and condensates contribute significantly to the country’s revenue streams.
Moreover, the report highlights Angola’s robust crude oil production, with major contributions from key players such as the National Petroleum, Gas and Biofuels Agency (ANPG), Sonangol, and TotalEnergies, among others.
The country exported 94.4 million barrels of crude oil in the first quarter, further boosting its economic prospects.
Despite challenges such as fluctuating oil prices and geopolitical tensions, Angola’s energy sector remains resilient.
The upward trend in oil prices, influenced by factors such as OPEC+ production cuts and geopolitical conflicts, has contributed to increased revenue from crude oil exports.
However, concerns about economic performance in key regions like the Eurozone and China, coupled with currency fluctuations, have led to some price volatility.
