Angola’s Sodiam Launches Online Auction of 74 Special Rough Diamonds in Luanda.
Sodiam, Angola’s National Diamond Trading Company, has announced a new auction of special rough diamonds, with 74 stones to be offered through an electronic bidding process.
Viewing sessions will take place from February 23 to March 3, 2026, at Sodiam’s headquarters in Luanda. The online bidding process will close on March 4 at 10:00 a.m. local time.
The auction is being organized in partnership with Trans Atlantic Gem Sales and is open to registered clients within Sodiam’s database who specialize in the commercialization of special stones. All lots included in the sale weigh 10.80 carats or more.
Distribution of Stones by Production Source
The 74 stones originate from several of Angola’s key diamond operations:
- 37 stones from Luele
- 14 stones from Catoca
- 8 stones from Mussende
- 5 stones from Kaixepa
- 5 stones from Chitotolo
- 2 stones from Lulo
- 1 stone each from Cuilo Kwenda, Somiluana, and Furi
Detailed participation packages will be provided to invited bidders ahead of the auction.
This marks Sodiam’s sixteenth rough diamond auction since 2019, reflecting Angola’s continued efforts to strengthen transparency, market access, and value realization within its diamond sector.
