Angola Highlights Progress in Assessing Hydrocarbon Potential of Kassanje and Etosha-Okavango Basins
The Minister of Mineral Resources, Petroleum and Gas, Diamantino Azevedo, on Saturday praised the progress made in evaluating the hydrocarbon potential of the Kassanje and Etosha-Okavango Basins in Cunene province.
Speaking to the press after visiting the Namacunde Logistics Support Base, the minister said that conditions are now in place to enable teams to operate more efficiently.
He added that the briefings provided by project leaders were crucial to understanding the ongoing work.
“We took the opportunity to propose solutions that could accelerate the assessment process, including the integration of additional technical and laboratory authorities, as well as strengthening human resources,” Azevedo stated.
He emphasized that the evaluation must be conducted with great care and in strict adherence to established procedures due to the high-risk nature of the work.
Nevertheless, he stressed that the effort is essential, as it contributes to improving the identification of new hydrocarbon reserves that could boost the country’s energy sector.
