TGS Wins Offshore Angola 4D Seismic Contract, Extending Ramform Vessel Operations to 2027
TGS has secured a significant 4D seismic acquisition contract offshore Angola, reinforcing its presence in Africa’s offshore energy sector and ensuring continued utilisation of one of its Ramform vessels through early 2027.
The project is scheduled to commence in July 2026 and will run for approximately eight months.
TGS will deploy its Ramform vessel equipped with GeoStreamer technology to acquire high-resolution marine seismic data for reservoir monitoring purposes.
The contract highlights ongoing exploration and production activity in Angola’s offshore oil and gas sector, particularly in deepwater developments where advanced geophysical imaging is increasingly essential for optimising field performance.
4D seismic technology involves comparing seismic datasets collected at different times to detect changes in subsurface reservoirs.
This allows operators to better understand reservoir dynamics, improve production strategies, and extend the life of mature offshore fields.
TGS Chief Executive Officer Kristian Johansen said the award strengthens the company’s position in Africa and provides firm vessel utilisation into 2027.
He added that TGS will continue focusing on delivering data-driven energy insights and geoscience solutions aligned with evolving industry needs.
According to the company, the combination of Ramform vessels and GeoStreamer technology enhances seismic imaging capabilities, enabling operators to obtain more accurate and detailed subsurface data in complex offshore environments.
