Dana Gas Gains Momentum as Egypt Operations Return to Growth

Dana Gas Boosts Egypt Production as Drilling Success and Payments Strengthen Operations

Dana Gas is seeing renewed momentum in Egypt after stronger production, successful drilling results and the full settlement of overdue receivables strengthened the company’s outlook for further investment.

The UAE-based gas producer said it received an additional $21.5 million from the Egyptian Government, bringing all overdue receivables in the country to full settlement.

The company also highlighted improved fiscal conditions, stronger government cooperation and the continuation of timely payments as key factors supporting its confidence in expanding investment.

Dana Gas is advancing a $100 million investment programme across Egypt’s Nile Delta, targeting higher domestic gas production at a time when the country is seeking to reduce its reliance on LNG imports.

The programme is already delivering results. Dana Gas recorded average production of 13,060 barrels of oil equivalent per day (boepd) in the first quarter of 2026, representing a 4% increase compared with the same period last year. This marks the company’s first year-on-year production growth in Egypt since 2017.

Its drilling campaign is also producing encouraging results. During 2025, Dana Gas drilled four wells and completed three workovers, adding approximately 30 million standard cubic feet per day (MMscf/d) of production and 36 billion cubic feet (Bcf) of reserves.

The latest well delivered a particularly strong result, identifying an estimated 10 Bcf of gas resources more than three times the original estimate of 3 Bcf.

The company said there is also potential for additional resources to be identified across the licence area.

With Egypt’s gas supply under increasing pressure, Dana Gas’ renewed investment is strategically significant.

The company expects its programme to contribute to higher domestic production while supporting Egypt’s efforts to reduce fuel import costs.

Dana Gas plans to drill four additional wells before the end of 2026, signalling continued commitment to Egypt’s upstream sector and the company’s broader strategy of rebuilding production through targeted investment and successful exploration.
