Venezuela and Angola have reaffirmed their commitment to enhancing cooperation in energy and mining, as announced by Venezuelan Foreign Minister Yván Gil.
The announcement followed a telephone conversation between Gil and Angolan Foreign Minister Tete António on Friday.
In his statement on Instagram, Gil congratulated Angola for assuming the Presidency of the African Union, acknowledging this achievement in the year marking the 50th anniversary of Angola’s independence.
He also emphasized that both nations are working together to build a multipolar world focused on peace and security.
Gil highlighted Angola’s leadership role in promoting unity and stability across Africa, particularly in efforts to foster peace in the Democratic Republic of Congo and Sudan.
The two ministers reviewed the state of their bilateral and multilateral cooperation, reaffirming their shared commitment to advancing cooperation in energy, mining, and furthering ties between the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States and the African Union.
Angola and Venezuela established diplomatic relations in December 1986. In February 2023, the two countries signed a General Agreement on Economic, Commercial, Scientific, Technical, and Cultural Cooperation, aimed at deepening their bilateral ties.
