Dangote Petroleum Refinery Strengthens Africa’s Energy Security with 456,000 Tonnes of Fuel Exports
Dangote Petroleum Refinery has exported 456,000 tonnes of refined petroleum products to five African countries, marking a major milestone in regional energy supply.
The company shipped 12 cargoes of fuel to Côte d’Ivoire, Cameroon, Tanzania, Ghana, and Togo.
These exports followed the refinery reaching its full production capacity of 650,000 barrels per day in February.
Products were sold on a Free on Board (FOB) basis to international traders, who managed transportation to each country.
The refinery emphasized that these exports demonstrate its ability to meet Nigeria’s domestic fuel needs while reliably supplying neighboring African markets.
It now delivers high-quality Euro 5 gasoline and diesel to countries that have historically imported lower-grade fuels.
By exporting fuel from Nigeria, the refinery is helping reshape Africa’s energy supply chain, reducing reliance on distant suppliers such as the Persian Gulf.
Supplying neighboring countries also enhances energy security, lowers costs, and minimizes delays associated with long-distance imports.
Dangote Petroleum Refinery expects this expansion to strengthen trade ties across the continent and position itself as a leading energy provider in West, East, and Central Africa.
Industry reports indicate that African nations previously dependent on overseas refineries are increasingly turning to Dangote as a closer, more efficient fuel source.
