Camtel and Angola Cables Collaborate to Boost Digital Connectivity in West Africa

Cameroon’s leading telecommunications operator, Camtel, and Angola’s multinational telecommunications and technology company, Angola Cables, have joined forces to enhance digital connectivity across West Africa and the Atlantic region.

This strategic partnership capitalizes on the extensive network of subsea cable connections, including the South Atlantic Cable System, West Africa Cable System, Monet, and the South Atlantic Inter Link, to strengthen redundancy and network resilience while elevating service quality.

By leveraging these robust infrastructure assets, businesses throughout the region stand to benefit from increased capacity options and improved access to local and regional networks.

Fernandolfernandes, the Nigerian country manager of TelCables West Africa, highlights the transformative potential of this collaboration, emphasizing its role in securing connectivity, fostering trade, and stimulating economic growth across the region.

Camtel’s CEO, Judith Yah Sunday Epse Achidi, underscores the strategic intent behind the partnership, aiming to harness Angola Cables’ extensive backhaul connectivity and existing interconnections with other submarine cables to deliver flexible and secure value-added services to clients and businesses.

Camtel’s network infrastructure, including multiple submarine cables and a Tier III data center, is well-positioned to support initiatives like the West to East Africa Network Access, further enhancing digital connectivity across the continent.

Meanwhile, Angola Cables’ operational footprint, spanning data centers in Brazil and Angola, along with significant internet exchange points in Africa, complements Camtel’s efforts to bolster digital infrastructure and expand connectivity.

Together, Camtel and Angola Cables are committed to driving the development of robust digital ecosystems in West Africa, paving the way for accelerated growth and innovation in the region’s telecommunications sector.
