More than 100 Young People Trained in Diamond Cutting

One hundred and fourteen young people recently concluded, in the city of Saurimo, province of Lunda-Sul, training in diamond cutting at the Training Center in Evaluation and Lapidation of the National Diamantifer Society (Sodiam).

In the message, during the ceremony for awarding certificates to the finalists of the first and second cycles, the recent graduates expressed their “willingness and availability” to face new challenges and contribute to the development of the diamond subsector in Angola.

The act was witnessed by the Minister of Mineral Resources, Oil and Gas, Diamantino Azevedo, by the Chairman of the Board of Directors of SODIAM-EP, Eugénio Bravo da Rosa, and by the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the National Diamond Company (Endiama), José Manuel Ganga Junior.

During his two-day visit to Lunda-Sul, minister Diamantino Azevedo also inaugurated a diamond cutting factory with a 50 percent local workforce and a bank branch, located in the Diamond Development Pole of Saurimo.
