MRV Led by Eni Launches Tender for Third FLNG Unit in Mozambique’s Rovuma Basin

Eni’s Mozambique Rovuma Venture issues global tender for EPCIC contract for third 6 MTPA FLNG unit offshore Cabo Delgado

Mozambique Rovuma Venture (MRV), led by Eni, has launched an international call for expressions of interest for the construction and installation of a third floating liquefied natural gas (FLNG) production unit in Mozambique’s offshore Rovuma Basin.

According to the tender notice, the consortium is seeking qualified companies to execute a full EPCIC contract covering engineering, procurement, construction, installation, and commissioning for a large-scale FLNG facility to be deployed in Area 4 of the Rovuma Basin, offshore Cabo Delgado province.

The planned FLNG unit is expected to have a production capacity of up to 6 million metric tonnes per annum (mtpa) of liquefied natural gas.

The development will operate in deepwater conditions of approximately 2,000 metres.

The scope of work includes the complete delivery of the facility, from detailed engineering and procurement through construction, offshore transportation, installation, mooring, commissioning, start-up, and performance testing prior to commercial operations.

The tender is open until 3 July, with MRV inviting experienced contractors with a proven track record in FLNG or comparable large-scale offshore oil and gas projects over the past decade.

Applicants are required to demonstrate technical capability in liquefaction technologies and provide details of proposed mooring and storage system suppliers for the new unit.

The initiative forms part of ongoing efforts to expand Mozambique’s LNG production capacity in the Rovuma Basin, one of the world’s largest emerging natural gas hubs.
