Azule Energy Begins First Oil Shipment from Agogo Integrated West Hub in Angola’s Lower Congo Basin
The first cargo from the Agogo Integrated West Hub (IWH) development project, operated by Azule Energy in Block 15/06 in the Lower Congo Basin, offshore Angola, was officially shipped on Wednesday.
Permission for shipping was granted by Angolan President João Lourenço during the opening of the Angola Oil & Gas 2025 Conference and Exhibition, with the ceremony presided over by Diamantino Azevedo, Minister of Mineral Resources, Petroleum and Gas; Paulino Jerónimo, President of Angola’s National Oil, Gas and Biofuels Agency (ANPG); and Adriano Mongini, CEO of Azule Energy.
“This project is a testament to our commitment to responsibly explore and develop our natural resources,” said Minister Azevedo. “It represents not only a technical achievement but also reinforces Angola’s position as a leading energy hub in Africa.”
The Agogo IWH project officially began production in August 2025, completing the full-field development of the Agogo and Ndungu fields.
Together, these fields hold approximately 450 million barrels of oil in reserves with an expected peak production of around 180,000 barrels per day.
“The Agogo Integrated West Hub exemplifies what can be achieved when international expertise collaborates with Angolan excellence,” said Mongini. “This development sets a benchmark for efficiency, ambition, and innovation in the global energy sector.”
Azule Energy operates the Agogo IWH project with a 36.84% stake, alongside partners Sonangol E&P (36.84%) and Sinopec International (26.32%). The project highlights Angola’s continued growth in offshore oil production and its ability to attract major international investment.
