Etu Energias to Build $24,000-Ton Lubricants Plant in Luanda, Creating Jobs and Reducing Imports by 2026
Etu Energias has announced the construction of a new lubricants manufacturing facility in Luanda, Angola.
With a planned annual production capacity of 24,000 metric tons, the plant is expected to be completed within the first quarter of 2026. The facility aims to meet growing domestic demand, reduce dependence on imports, and create new employment opportunities.
The future factory will produce lubricants under the national Etu brand, helping address product shortages in the local market.
According to Edson dos Santos, Chairman and CEO of Etu Energias, the project supports Angola’s strategy of import substitution while fostering industrial growth and job creation.
The announcement was made during the Angola International Trade Fair (FILDA), held in the Luanda-Bengo Special Economic Zone.
During the event, dos Santos highlighted the project as part of a broader expansion strategy. This includes plans to increase the company’s gas station network from four to 40 outlets over the next four years.
“Over the past three years, we’ve tripled crude oil production, positioning Etu Energias as a major player in Angola’s energy sector,” said dos Santos.
“With this new facility, we are moving toward the vertical integration of our operations, including lubricant production and fuel distribution.”
Beyond industrial goals, the CEO emphasized Etu Energias’ ongoing commitment to social development in the communities where it operates.
The company continues to invest in education, healthcare, and agriculture, aligning business growth with sustainable community development.
“We never forget the communities surrounding our operations,” dos Santos stated. “We believe the company’s success must go hand in hand with the sustainable development of the regions we operate in.”
Commenting on the importance of FILDA, he noted that the trade fair is a valuable platform for showcasing the country’s industrial potential.
“For Etu Energias, it’s an opportunity to reaffirm our commitment to national development and the strengthening of Angola’s industrial base,” he concluded.
