Angola Hosts AIMC 2025: President Lourenço to Inaugurate Major Mining Investment Forum in Luanda

President João Lourenço will officially open the 3rd edition of the Angola International Mining Conference (AIMC 2025), which begins this Wednesday, October 22, at the Talatona Convention Center in Luanda.

According to a statement from the Ministry of Mineral Resources, Oil and Gas (MIREMPET), the event — organized in partnership with Sankofa Advisory Group and Bumbar Mining — will run through October 23, bringing together key players from the global mining industry.

Held under the theme “Strengthening Global Mining Investment Opportunities in Angola,” AIMC 2025 forms part of the country’s National Development Plan (2023–2027).

The conference seeks to attract strategic investments, consolidate the extractive industry, and position Angola as a leading destination in the global sustainable mining agenda.

The two-day event will focus on four main areas:

Strategic reflections on the mining sector;

Industry exhibitions;

Business meetings; and

Networking opportunities.

Key topics to be discussed include legal and fiscal reforms in the mining sector, investment opportunities, sustainability and environmental responsibility, the value chain and industrialization of mining, and the exploration of critical minerals essential to the global energy transition, such as lithium, cobalt, and copper.

Originally launched in June by Diamantino Azevedo, Minister of Mineral Resources, Oil and Gas, AIMC 2025 is expected to bring together hundreds of global leaders and investors from across the mining industry.

By hosting this major international event, Angola aims to showcase its vast mineral potential, promote responsible mining practices, and attract long-term partnerships that will drive economic diversification and sustainable growth.
