BW Energy Advances MaBoMo Phase 2 Development to Boost Output at Dussafu Field

BW Energy Targets July 2026 Drilling Start for Dussafu Phase 2 Development Offshore Gabon

BW Energy is preparing to begin drilling for the MaBoMo Phase 2 development on the Dussafu license offshore Gabon, with operations expected to start around July 2026.

The campaign will initially target four production wells using the existing BW MaBoMo mobile production unit.

The company is also evaluating plans for two additional appraisal wells as part of ongoing field development optimisation.

BW Energy expects first oil from the Phase 2 program between late 2026 and the first quarter of 2027, depending on operational progress and drilling outcomes.

The expansion is designed to offset natural production declines and increase overall output from the Dussafu asset.

Production Growth and Infrastructure Use

The planned wells are expected to restore gross production at the Dussafu license to approximately 40,000 barrels of oil per day.

Output will be processed through the nearby BW Adolo FPSO via an existing 20-kilometre subsea pipeline.

The development strategy builds on a phased cluster model, using existing infrastructure to reduce costs and accelerate production timelines.

BW Energy is also progressing the nearby Bourdon prospect toward a potential final investment decision, applying the same MaBoMo development concept as part of a broader regional expansion plan.

License Extension Supports Long-Term Development

The company confirmed that Gabon’s Ministry of Petroleum and Gas has approved a 20-year extension of the Dussafu Marin production license, now valid through 2048.

The extension is expected to support continued investment, additional drilling phases, and long-term production stability at the field.
