Venice Mine Complex in Zimbabwe Poised for Tripled Gold Production

According to Marc Nicolle, CEO of Mopani Gold, gold production at the Venice Mine Complex in Zimbabwe is set to triple.

Mopani Gold, the company operating the Venice Mine, plans to enhance processing facilities and implement a new corporate social responsibility strategy to boost gold production from 4,000 tons per month to 15,000 tons. Additionally, the mining firm will expand its existing 1 MW solar power plant to ensure a sustainable energy supply to the mine.

Nicolle highlighted, “We invested nearly a million USD last year in the Abbey hoist, which is now operational and capable of hoisting the targeted 15,000 tons per month from underground on its own.”

He also expressed the company’s intention to invest in exploration, stating, “We have completed a conceptual life-of-mine based on shallow historically mined areas, and we aim to expand our exploration efforts to target deeper portions of the mine, which remain untapped.”

The expansion program is expected to create a significant increase in employment, with the workforce growing from 400 to 1200 workers.
