Trina Solar Unveils 195 MW Springbok Solar Project in South Africa

Trina Solar, a leading South African PV panel producer, has launched the groundbreaking 195 MW Springbok solar project in collaboration with renewable energy firm SOLA and construction group WBHO.

Situated in South Africa’s Free State province, the Springbok project marks a significant milestone as the country’s first and largest privately developed n-type utility-scale project, boasting a capacity of 195 MW. Leveraging n-type technology, Trina Solar will supply 331,200 panels of its Vertex N series modules.

Yang Bao, President of Global Sales & Marketing at Trina Solar, expressed the company’s commitment to driving Africa towards a greener, net-zero future through innovative solar solutions.

Derek Wallace, Managing Director of WBHO Construction’s Projects Division, echoed Bao’s sentiments, emphasizing the Springbok project’s role in showcasing renewable energy’s potential and contributing to sustainable development and economic growth in South Africa.
