Trelleborg completes remote installation for deepwater energy project

Trelleborg Marine and Infrastructure has completed the remote installation of its SafePilot Offshore technology for a deepwater oil & gas project in Angola, the company announced 19 July.

The work was part of an upgrade of the navigation and positioning systems and buoy monitoring systems to a floating production storage and offloading unit (FPSO).

To create more remote operations for its offshore assets, the FPSO operator required support for the installation, data integration, software uploading and commissioning of the equipment, said Trelleborg.

“By adopting our remote operational support and digital technology, the FPSO operator was able to save on operational costs and lower health and safety risk due to reduced offshore personnel,” said Richard Hepworth, president, Trelleborg Marine and Infrastructure.

The SafePilot Offshore oil & gas industry system “has resulted in new standardisation of equipment on board of multiple FPSO’s in the Angola area,” added Hepworth.

Trelleborg’s navigation and piloting system is designed to enable tankers to position at specific loading locations and monitor all vessel movements during oil offloading operations.
