Energy engineering and technology company TechnipFMC has successfully delivered the first Subsea 2.0 Production System to TotalEnergies.
This innovative system aims to simplify, compact, and enhance submarine equipment, boosting production for the CLOV project in Block 17 offshore Angola.
The Subsea 2.0 Production System results from a contract signed between TechnipFMC and TotalEnergies, under a framework agreement established in May 2022. This system is crucial for developing Phase 3 of the CLOV project in Block 17.
Valued between $75 and $250 million, the agreement encompasses the supply of subsea production systems for brownfield development in Block 17.
TechnipFMC’s Subsea 2.0 products utilize standardized, pre-designed, and pre-qualified components, enabling rapid configuration to meet specific project requirements.
This approach optimizes engineering processes and improves supply chain and manufacturing efficiency, allowing for quicker attainment of first oil.
To date, TotalEnergies has invested approximately $850 million in this project. Phase 3 development includes extending subsea infrastructure and connecting it with the FPSO CLOV, aiming to increase production from existing oil fields.
The project could peak at up to 30,000 barrels per day (KBPD), with first oil anticipated by the end of 2024.
TotalEnergies operates Block 17 with a 38% stake, partnering with Equinor (22.16%), ExxonMobil (19%), Azule Energies (15.84%), and Sonangol P&P (5%). Block 17 currently has four FPSOs in operation: Girassol, Dália, Pazflor, and CLOV.
