Sonangol opens tender for Exploration of Paenal

Sonangol announced, yesterday 14th December, the opening of a Public Tender for the concession of the exploration of PAENAL, a shipyard for the manufacture and integration of facilities for the oil and gas industry, located in Porto Amboim, Cuanza-Sul.

In a statement, the company which holds a shareholding in PAENAL, indicated that the exploration concession is part of a restructuring strategy aimed at expanding the company’s activity, encompassing the repair, maintenance, manufacture of vessels and other related activities.

The document indicates that the presentation of proposals will run until March 30, 2024, and interested entities must access the parts of the procedure from next Tuesday, the 19th.

At the end of the contest, exploration must be joint between Sonangol and/or the winners, but the company announced that it will provide additional clarifications at a press conference on Monday.

PAENAL is a manufacturing and integration shipyard that began operations in 2007 and has already built complex facilities for the country’s oil and gas industry.

In 2013, it concluded a production, assembly and integration operation of one of the upper modules of the floating production and offloading platform (FPSO) CLOV, operated by TotalEnergies in Block 17, where it connects around 30 wells that generate a production of 160 thousand barrels of oil per day, according to available data.
