Sonangol Breaks Ground on New Cabinda Headquarters to Boost Efficiency and Local Employment

The foundation stone for Sonangol’s new headquarters in Cabinda was laid yesterday, marking a significant step towards improving the company’s operational efficiency and creating employment opportunities for local residents.

This milestone was highlighted by Minister of Mineral Resources, Oil and Gas, Diamantino Azevedo, who emphasized that the new facility will not only provide better working conditions for employees but also streamline various company functions under one roof.

The upcoming building, which will accommodate around 100 employees, is set to feature three floors, including an auditorium with a capacity of 100 people, shops, a CCTV room, meeting and IT rooms, a technical area, a cafeteria, a medical center, and an archives area.

The project, led by the Ergicon-Grow consortium, comes with a budget of 9.3 billion kwanzas and is expected to be completed by July 2026.

The headquarters will be located on Rua Dr. Agostinho Neto, adjacent to the Banco de Comércio e Indústria (BCI) headquarters, covering an area of 1,570 square meters.

Cabinda Governor Suzana de Abreu welcomed the project, noting that it would enhance the city’s image and address concerns about Sonangol’s working conditions in the region.

Sonangol’s Board Chairman, Sebastião Martins, also expressed confidence that the new building would elevate the company’s presence and functionality in Cabinda, replacing the outdated previous structure.

The ceremony was attended by notable figures, including the Minister of Public Administration, Labor and Social Security, Teresa Dias, Secretary of State for Oil and Gas, José Barroso, as well as provincial government members, defense and security officials, religious leaders, and traditional authorities.
