The production and sale of cooking gas reached 471,583 metric tons in 2023, announced the President of the Executive Committee of Sonangol’s Gas Unit, Sonagás, stating that this figure met the established targets for the year.
Miguel Barros was quoted in the December Sonangol newsletter stating that the production achieved in 2023 serves as a prelude to the record of 500,000 metric tons that the company aims to reach in 2024.
The President of Sonagás’ Executive Committee attributed the performance to access to gas sources, efficient logistical coordination, and the dedication of employees, emphasizing “the focus and commitment of the workforce in operational and support areas.”
He outlined the actions planned for 2024, focusing on enhancing operational efficiency by completing the rehabilitation of the country’s major filling infrastructures, including the Carlos Pinto Nogueira and Lobito filling facilities.
The rehabilitation of facilities in Huambo and Namibe has commenced, indicating a continued investment in human resources development with specific training actions for employees, especially in obtaining certifications.
The company has prepared a contingency plan to address discrepancies between demand and supply, a historic market sensitivity during year-end transitions, adopting a solution for readiness and prevention to ensure supply stability nationwide.
“We have mobilized our teams to intervene promptly if necessary,” stated Manuel Barros.
