Rhino Resources Awards Halliburton Contract for Offshore Namibia Project

Exploration firm Rhino Resources has awarded a contract to energy services company Halliburton for its deep-water multi-well construction project offshore Namibia, announced during the Namibia International Energy Conference (NIEC) 2024.

Halliburton will provide solutions for the construction of exploration and appraisal wells in Block 2914A starting from Q4 – 2024.

Additionally, Rhino Resources will utilize Halliburton’s well and prospect testing services as part of the contract.

According to Travis Smithard, CEO of Rhino Resources, the contract reflects the company’s strategy to leverage both local and international expertise to accelerate the expansion of Namibia’s oil and gas industry, promoting economic growth and local content development.

Smithard emphasized, “Our partnership underscores Namibia’s openness to business and free market competition for the benefit of all stakeholders.”

In response, Halliburton will expand its operational facilities in Namibia to meet the demands of the contract, leveraging over 100 years of global experience in the service industry and more than 10 years of regional expertise from Rhino Resources.

Jean Marc Lopez, Senior Vice President for Europe, Eurasia, and Sub-Saharan Africa at Halliburton, highlighted the collaboration’s potential to establish a standard for innovation and economic growth in the industry, maximizing asset value in Block 2914A.

Antoine Berel, Vice President for sub-Saharan Africa at Halliburton, emphasized the importance of in-country value creation, showcasing the company’s commitment not only to presenting plans but also to executing them, thus supporting all services in Namibia.

Rhino Resources operates in Block 2914A under Petroleum Exploration License 85, situated close to a discovery in the Orange Basin, indicating significant potential for hydrocarbon prospects as revealed by a 3D seismic survey.
