Perenco Initiates Offshore Congo Production

The independent hydrocarbon producer, Perenco, has announced the commencement of production at the Boatou field located off the coast of the Republic of the Congo.

This achievement comes after the commissioning of four wells between March and May of this year, finally enabling the company to initiate production at the field, which was discovered 39 years ago.

With the capacity to produce up to 4,500 barrels per day, the start of production follows a final investment decision made in 2020.

It is worth noting that this decision was one of only two made on the continent that year. Perenco is working in collaboration with its partners, namely La Société Nationale des Pétroles du Congo (15%), Africa Oil & Gas Corporation (5%), and PetroCongo (5%).

The production will be integrated into the existing infrastructure located at Likouala, which is approximately 7 kilometers away.

Stéphane Barc, the General Manager of Perenco Congo, expressed his confidence in the project, stating that the wells clearly demonstrate the capacity and expertise of the Perenco Congo team.

He emphasized their ability to find tailored solutions for marginal fields and deliver them quickly, efficiently, and safely. Barc further stated that this accomplishment signifies a very promising future for Perenco in the Republic of Congo.
