OPEC+ Oil Production Increase to Impact Angola Starting September 2025

OPEC+ Boosts Oil Production by 547,000 Barrels Daily from September 2025 — What This Means for Angola’s Oil Industry
The Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries and its allies (OPEC+) announced on Sunday a decision to increase oil supply by 547,000 barrels per day, effective from September 1, 2025.

This move comes amid a globally stable economic outlook, with eight participating countries agreeing on the production adjustment in a virtual meeting.

The decision was made by Saudi Arabia, Russia, Iraq, the United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, Kazakhstan, Algeria, and Oman, who form the core of OPEC+ — a coalition of major oil exporters including traditional members and allies like Russia.

This increase marks the sixth consecutive monthly rise in oil production, signaling OPEC+’s confidence in sustained demand.

The group will reconvene on September 7 to review production levels and consider further adjustments if necessary.

At the latest session, Brent crude oil prices closed at $69.67 per barrel, down 3.94% compared to the previous Thursday.

For Angola, a key OPEC member and one of Africa’s largest oil producers, this production increase could mean higher output and potential revenue gains.

As Angola continues to recover from past production challenges, the OPEC+ decision supports the country’s ambitions to strengthen its oil sector and boost economic growth through energy exports.

Angola’s participation in OPEC+ ensures it remains a significant player in global oil markets, and the ongoing production adjustments provide opportunities for the country to optimize its resource management amid fluctuating international demand.
