Minister of Mineral Resources, Oil, and Gas, Diamantino de Azevedo, stressed the imperative for companies in the sector to engage closely with neighboring communities by initiating social projects that contribute to local development.
During the launch of construction for 300 social housing units aimed at resettling families near the Luele mining area in Saurimo, the minister underscored the significance of companies not only fulfilling financial obligations but also assuming social responsibilities and collaborating with local communities.
Architect António Campos outlined that each house is allocated 400 square meters in the project, which includes the construction of a school, a medical center, eight stores, five sobas, a police station, and other essential services.
While costs and timelines were not detailed, the engineer emphasized that the project aims to ensure convenience, safety, and environmental balance.
The Regedor of Luele commended the initiative, foreseeing prosperity in the mine’s exploration to generate wealth and happiness for Angolans.
Pedro Galiano, the administrator of ENDIAMA MINING leading the Luele project, reiterated commitment to mining development while upholding social responsibility toward the communities.
The population expressed enthusiasm for owning homes in a residential area designed to provide amenities like water supply systems, multi-sports fields, gardens, and structures for engaging with traditional leaders.
Saurimo’s municipal administrator, Adérito Cahanga, highlighted the traditional authorities’ close monitoring of the project’s progress, anticipating the inauguration of decent housing for the represented communities.
The event, attended by Minister of Territorial Administration António da Fonseca, Lunda Sul Governor Daniel Neto, Secretary of State for Mineral Resources Jânio da Rosa Victor, Endiama’s Board of Directors President Ganga Júnior, and local government and traditional authorities, emphasized the collective commitment toward community-oriented development initiatives.
