The National Oil Corporation (NOC) has successfully started operating a new pipeline from the North Hamada oil field to the Mellitah oil port.
In a statement on Thursday, the NOC detailed that oil production from the North Hamada field has begun flowing to the Mellitah port via the 250-kilometer (El Feel-Mellitah) pipeline.
The corporation reported that crude oil pumping has been consistent and secure, starting from the main storage tanks and reaching the receiving point at the end of the pipeline with the agreed operational pressures.
The NOC completed filling the new shipping line at the North Hamada field on May 18. Subsequently, an agreement was signed for the transportation, handling, and shipping of crude oil through the El Feel-Mellitah pipeline by Mellitah Oil & Gas and Nafusah Oil Operations.
According to the NOC, production from the field is expected to increase progressively over the next few days. Ready wells will be connected to the processing station and then to the shipping line.
By mid-July, five wells will come online, increasing production to 8,000 barrels per day, with a target of 10,000 barrels per day by August as part of the field’s first-phase development program.
