NNPC and Gas Suppliers Sign Long-Term Agreements to Boost NLNG Feedgas Supply

NNPC, NLNG Sign 20-Year Gas Supply Agreements to Strengthen Nigeria’s Energy Security and Support Gas Industrialization

NNPC Ltd and five upstream gas suppliers have signed long-term Gas Supply Agreements (GSAs) with the Nigeria Liquefied Natural Gas (NLNG) Company, securing 1.29 billion standard cubic feet (bscf) of feedgas per day.

The agreements, which include extension options, were signed with SNEPCO-Sunlink HI, TEPNG-AMNI JV IMA, NNPCL-First E&P JV, SNG NGML, Oando-NNPC E&P, and TEPNG JV Ubeta. NLNG will gradually scale up the 1.29 bscf/d feedgas supply over time.

The 20-year agreements, signed at NNPC Towers in Abuja, also include companies such as Amni International, Sunlink Energies, First E&P, NNPC Gas Marketing, Shell Nigeria Gas Solutions, Oando Group, and Aradel Holdings.

They aim to address the prolonged shortfall in upstream gas supply while supporting Nigeria’s energy transition agenda and the Federal Government’s Decade of Gas initiative.

According to NLNG’s MD/CEO, Philip Mshelbila, the agreements are the result of sustained collaboration among shareholders and stakeholders to overcome long-standing gas supply challenges.

He noted that pipeline disruptions, vandalism, and sabotage had previously constrained gas availability, affecting NLNG operations and placing strain on customers, shareholders, and the wider economy.

Mshelbila emphasized that the new GSAs will ensure sustainable gas supply, enhance operational reliability, and strengthen partnerships for future growth.

He described the agreements as a turning point for NLNG, reinforcing its path toward expansion.

NNPC Group CEO Bayo Ojulari praised NLNG shareholders and the Federal Government for their long-term commitment to value creation.

He highlighted that the GSAs open opportunities for both local and international industry growth through collaboration, synergies, and shared risk.

Ojulari also commended President Bola Tinubu for creating an enabling environment through executive orders promoting gas development and ease of doing business.

He reaffirmed NNPC Ltd’s commitment to accelerating implementation of these Presidential directives and working with partners to unlock shared prosperity under Nigeria’s gas development goals.
