Sonangol now has one more vessel for operations to transport crude oil.
The naming ceremony for the Suezmax oil tanker takes place today in the city of Mokpo.
The president of Sonangol Marine Service, João Almeida, said that the company will no longer charter ships to meet its objectives in this segment.
According to João Almeida, it is an oil tanker that increases the fleet, which goes from 9 to 10 ships.
João Almeida said that, by the end of the year, the fleet could have one more ship, when it takes possession of the second, also to be built by Hyundai Sambo Heavy Industriese.
“It is an oil tanker that corresponds to Sonangol’s transport needs and that is at the level of the highest quality oil tankers sailing in the world’s waters or oceans”, he asserted.
According to the person in charge, it is yet another ship that increases Sonangol’s transport capacity to better meet market needs.
The oil tanker has the capacity to transport 1 million barrels and is designed for a useful life of 20 years.
