New Headquarters of the African Diamond Producers Association Inaugurated in Luanda

The headquarters of the African Diamond Producers Association (ADPA) was officially inaugurated in Luanda on Thursday by Angola’s Minister of Mineral Resources, Petroleum, and Gas, Diamantino Azevedo, and his Zimbabwean counterpart, Winston Chitando.

According to Azevedo, the delivery of ADPA’s new headquarters fulfills the Angolan government’s commitment to providing suitable facilities for the association.

“Today, we are formally handing over the ADPA headquarters, the result of joint efforts by three Angolan ministries, namely the Ministry of Mineral Resources, Petroleum, and Gas, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the Ministry of Finance.

I would like to extend my sincere gratitude to them for their deep commitment,” emphasized Azevedo.

The Minister of MIREMPET further explained that the reform process initiated at ADPA in July 2019 aimed to review its operations, ensure greater participation from member states in paying annual financial contributions, secure Botswana’s membership in the institution, and improve working conditions for the staff.

Zimbabwe’s Minister, Winston Chitando, expressed his gratitude to the Angolan government for providing the association with the facilities to operate.

State Secretary for Budget, Juciene de Sousa, highlighted that the government has consistently met its financial obligations toward the institution, regularly paying the country’s dues.

The ADPA headquarters is located on the 12th floor of the CIF Luanda 2 building, on Avenida do 1.º Congresso do MPLA, in the Ingombota municipality.

Current members of the organization include Angola, Cameroon, Republic of the Congo, Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), Guinea, Namibia, South Africa, Tanzania, Togo, Central African Republic, Mali, Zimbabwe, Algeria, Mauritania, Sierra Leone, Liberia, Côte d’Ivoire, Ghana, and Gabon.
