New Gas Unit set for Inauguration in Zaire

The Gas Reception and Distribution Unit (URDG) of the Falcão project’s Phase 2, located in Zaire province’s municipality of Soyo, is set to be inaugurated on December 14th by the Minister of Mineral Resources, Oil, and Gas, Diamantino Azevedo.

URDG’s primary objective is to receive and process natural gas from the Angola LNG plant, catering to various end users such as power generation, fertilizer factories, and petrochemicals.

Moreover, this facility aims to expand the industrial utilization of domestic gas, fostering increased local employment opportunities and contributing to social stability.

The construction contract for URDG was overseen by Sonangol-EP, aligning with the national program aimed at boosting the domestic use of natural gas.

The ceremony marking the inauguration will witness the presence of Minister Diamantino Azevedo from the Ministry of Mineral Resources, Oil, and Gas (MIREMPET), alongside the provincial governor of Zaire, Adriano Mendes de Carvalho, and various local entities, as per an official statement from MIREMPET shared on Facebook.
