New Fuel Stations to Address Supply Issues in Cuanza Norte Municipalities

The fuel supply challenges in the municipalities of Quiculungo and Bolongongo in Angola’s Cuanza Norte province are set to be resolved with the construction of new fuel stations.

These two areas, previously lacking such facilities, will soon benefit from the ongoing development of fuel pumps, according to Luís Fernandes, General Director of the Petroleum Regulatory Institute (IRDP).

Fernandes shared this update during a Ministry of Mineral Resources, Oil, and Gas meeting held in Cuanza Norte.

He stated that the fuel stations are in an advanced stage of construction and will fulfill a long-standing need for residents in these municipalities.

At present, Cuanza Norte has 17 fuel stations across various municipalities, though only 15 are operational, Fernandes confirmed.

The meeting, attended by the provincial governor, government officials, and economic stakeholders in the mining and hydrocarbon sectors, covered various topics, including:

The Geological and Mining Potential of Cuanza Norte: Presented by IGEO.

Granting of Mining Rights and Licensing Procedures: Addressed by the National Agency for Mineral Resources (ANRM).

Decentralization of Powers to Provinces: Discussed by the National Directorate of Mineral Resources (DNRM).

The meeting also revealed plans for a workshop on the mining sector to be held in Ndalatando, the provincial capital, next year.

The proposal was agreed upon by Minister Diamantino Azevedo and Governor João Diogo Gaspar.

These initiatives aim to bolster fuel supply and foster the development of Cuanza Norte’s energy and mining sectors.
