MTI Energy explores Congo and Kwanza blocks

Canadian oil company MTI Energy begins this year with seismic studies to explore the shared blocks of the Congo and Kwanza onshore basins, tendered by the National Agency of Petroleum, Gas and Biofuels (ANPG)

With a production of 25,000 barrels of oil/day, MTI Energy will explore Block 5, in the Congo basin, where it has a 50 percent share in production.

In this basin, the Canadian oil company shares exploration with Prodoil (15 percent), Prodiaman (11.67 percent), Upite Oil Company (11.67 percent) and Servicab (1.67 percent).

For Block 5, Kwanza basin, MTI Energy has a 60 percent stake, Sonangol Pesquisa & Produção (20 percent), Monka Oil (20 percent), Simples Oil (10 percent). In Block 6, Canadian MTI Energy has a 50 percent stake, the same as Simplies Oil. In Block 8, MTI has a 20 percent stake, Alfort Petroleum (50 percent), Simples OIl (20 percent) and Monka OIl (10 percent).

In Block 17, Kwan-za basin, the Canadian oil company has 60 percent, Brites Oil and Gas (20 percent) and Mineral One (20 percent). For Block 20, MTI Energy has a 50 percent stake, the same as Brites Oil and Gas.

According to the president of MTI Energy, Allan Schultz, with the signing of the exploration contracts, he expects the Canadian oil company to have a long-term relationship with the Ministry of Mineral Resources and Petroleum, with the aim of participating in the development and growth of the economy. angolan

“I am happy to be here, and I hope to have a long-term relationship with the Ministry of Mineral Resources, Oil and Gas so that together we can develop this country. MTI Energy is a company that already provides services in parts of the world, so , we hope to grow and stay in Angola for a long time”, he said.

For Allan Schultz, MTI Energy has “Upstream” experience in oil and gas production, custom equipment manufacturing, machining and mechanical engineering design services.

“We are a new company and we have been in existence for six years. We are growing with assets in various parts of the world, such as Brazil. At the moment, we have acquired assets in Brazil, in the Papaterra field, with an exploration capacity of 20,000 barrels of oil. /-day”, he said.

According to ANGP, the 2020 bidding program aims to relaunch the exploration and production of hydrocarbons, reduce the decline in production, by increasing exploration activity and discovering new resources.

The program also provides for stimulating the local creation of small and medium-sized oil companies, promoting the incorporation of qualified Angolan labor, as well as fostering technological innovation and excellent governance practices.

The ANPG says that the program also plans to increase the geological knowledge of all of Angola’s sedimentary basins, within the framework of the implementation of the hydrocarbon exploration strategy, approved by the Presidential Decree.
