Minister Azevedo Calls for Action to Sustain Oil and Gas Sector Initiatives

The Minister of Mineral Resources, Oil, and Gas, Diamantino Azevedo, urged the newly appointed members of the Board of Directors of the National Petroleum, Gas, and Biofuels Agency (ANPG) to uphold the ongoing initiatives aimed at stabilizing production and sustaining strategies for block bidding.

Presiding over the inauguration ceremony in Luanda, Azevedo emphasized the need for swift action to ensure the implementation of these directives.

Acknowledging the accomplishments of the outgoing administration over the past five years, the current team expressed its commitment to supporting the industry amidst challenging times both nationally and globally.

Azevedo underscored the importance of fostering strong partnerships with regulatory bodies and service providers to overcome current obstacles and pave the way for increased production and future exploration endeavors.

Highlighting the significance of local content initiatives, Azevedo emphasized the Ministry’s active involvement in supporting ANPG’s objectives.

He stressed the need for greater attention to investments in local content, aiming to enhance sector engagement and participation.

In his remarks, the President of the ANPG Board of Directors, Paulino Jerónimo, emphasized the prioritization of the bidding process to ensure continued sector development.

Jerónimo underscored the importance of exploration activities, including the optimization of mature fields.

He noted the agency’s progress in expediting the tender process, with four tenders conducted during its five-year tenure, signaling improved efficiency.

Looking ahead, Jerónimo outlined plans for future tenders, with a focus on areas of high potential, particularly in the Cunene and Cuando Cubango basins.

He assured preparations for the upcoming bidding strategy to maximize opportunities for growth and development.

In addition to the appointment of the new Board of Directors, administrators Artur Manuel Custódio, Nicola Lemos, Ana Miala, and Alcides Andrade were sworn in during the ceremony, marking a new chapter in ANPG’s mission to drive stability and progress in Angola’s oil and gas sector.
