Libya’s Nafusah Oil Operations Connects North Hamada Fields to Mellitah Facilities

Nafusah Oil Operations – a joint venture comprising the Libyan National Oil Corporation, Medco International Ventures Limited and the Libyan Investment Authority – has kickstarted the connection of the North Hamada fields to the El-Feel pipeline and Mellitah oil and gas treatment facilities in Libya.

The aim is to ensure the transportation of 10,000 barrels of crude oil per day from the North Hamada fields for processing at Mellitah and monetization both on the local and international market as from early 2024.

Mohamed Al-Mabrouk, Director of North Hamada Field Development Operations at Nafusah Oil Operations said the company has completed excavation and detection works for the construction of a 51km 12-inch pipeline to connect North Hamada fields with Mellitah Oil and Gas Company’s 30-inch diameter oil line.

The construction works are being done in partnership with Italy’s Bonati and Germany’s Forrostaal.

The pipelines are set to be connected by the end of October. Simultaneously, the installation of well complexes, sub-assembly lines, and main shipping lines is in progress. Pumping into the connected pipelines is anticipated to commence by the end of the year.
